I’m not that enthusiastic about news in print. The daily newspaper does not have as much coverage as TV news. Also I find it is boring to read and I usually don’t have the time to read it on the weekend because I have homework to do.
Newspapers can’t compare with the electronic media when it comes to speed and coverage. But there are certain ways in which newspapers stand out. We can find detailed analysis on certain issues in the newspapers; some of these reports are even not mentioned in the TV news. I would say that newspapers are the most reliable source of information, because it is the reporters and editors that stand behind the news, while television news anchors are simply the spokespersons.
Newspapers are especially important for people who want to enhance their knowledge because newspapers cover more issues and they provide more detailed information. For the sake of speed, TV reports don’t have the content that can be learned. I personally think the best way is to read an English newspaper so that I can keep myself well- informed and at the same time improve my English.
