Yale College offers over 360 courses in the humanities， social sciences， natural sciences and mathematics. Most Yale undergraduates pursue one of three general study plans (humanities，social science or natural science) and choose from among these fields' courses to meet their distribution requirement（不同学科的必修比例）。All freshmen take two introductions to the study of religion； all sophomores take a course on U. S. political institutions， along with one of six available courses on global issues； and so on. The list below gives the number of credits required for each major. Note that it takes more than four years to complete most majors because of pre-major requirements—a total of about sixty classes are needed for degrees in most departments.
